FAQs about EMDR Consultation
What is the difference between being EMDR trained and EMDR certified?
Being trained in EMDR therapy means a clinician has completed an EMDRIA-approved Basic Training. After completing EMDR Basic Training, clinicians are considered “fully trained” in EMDR, allowing them to practice independently. To become certified in EMDR, clinicians must complete additional requirements, including conducting a specified number of EMDR sessions, receiving EMDR consultation, and EMDR-specific continuing education.
Can my consultation sessions at Sustainable Wellness count toward EMDR certification?
Yes! We provide EMDR consultation for those seeking EMDRIA certification and for those looking only to receive the benefits of consultation without pursuing certification. If possible, we ask that you let your Consultant know about your certification interests prior to starting consultation to ensure information is tracked accordingly. Some EMDR trained clinicians aren't sure if they want to pursue certification, and that's okay too! We're here to support you at various stages of your EMDR journey.
How do I become an EMDR Consultant?
