DID & Dissociation Consultation

We offer individual and group consultation to clinicians who are interested in deepening their knowledge in DID & dissociation.

What is DID & Dissociation Consultation?

Consultation is a collaborative relationship in which one of our supervisors reviews case material and provides feedback regarding DID and dissociation as it presents with consultees' clients. Consultation focuses on building skills and knowledge in a structured environment using clinical examples from the consultee's work with clients. Focus areas may include the following:

  • Identifying presentations of dissociation as a result of complex trauma

  • Identifying different types of dissociation including but not limited to derealization/depersonalization

  • Assessing and diagnosing dissociative disorders

  • Interpreting assessments (DES-II, MID, SCID-D)

  • Providing feedback on interventions specific to dissociation (i.e. ego-state, parts work, somatic work, EMDR, ACT, DBT, attachment work, stabilization/grounding, etc.)

  • Addressing dissociation when it comes up in EMDR (consultation does not count towards EMDR hours)

Please note that consultation is not equivalent to clinical supervision.
